This section focuses on News and Journal articles that illustrate the sociological links between the fashion item(condoms) and gender.

The first article is from the New York Times, and is entitled " Pigs With Cellphones, but No Condoms". Its main focus is media and advertising in relation to condoms. However, the article briefly discusses the links between condoms and male consumers, in regards to their old spokesman the "Trojan Man", and also discusses how the pigs used in their new line of commercials represent irresponsibility (strangely enough, only the men are portrayed as pigs ). in addition, the article discusses how Trojan is reaching out to female consumers with things such as condoms and pastel packages.

Another important article would be " U.S. Jobs Shape Condoms' Role in Foreign Aid", also from New York Times.  Within the article, the author discusses how many of the employees at the Alabama based condom factory are female. The article addresses women being used as low wage workers not only globally, but nationally. Furthermore, the article hints at the growing phenomenon of the Feminization of Poverty

Also, the article from the Christian Science Monitor, titled "An American-led coalition wants Mexican officials to get help in solving the killing of female factory workers" discusses not fashion items of condoms, but the lives of female factory worker in Mexico. the article discusses the two-hundred plus female factory workers murders that have occurred in Mexico till this present time. specifically, it refers to the border town of Juarez, Mexico, where women provide much of the workforce (roughly 70 %) in Juarez's three hundred plus factories. The main message of this piece is of violence done to the women workforce, which apart from the gendering of condoms, is a crucial aspect of this project.

This article gives a sense of how little attention the media gives to female condoms. This article, published in the health section of the New York Times, only takes a few sentences (literally) out of the entire article to discuss female condoms, the rest however follows the mentality of mainstream America, but solely focusing on the male condoms.
